Be who you is.
~ Clifton Chenier

Being an adult is an evolving process. Who you are today is not the same person you were 10 years ago or will be in another 10 years. You may have the same life structure, i.e. live in the same house, have the same job, etc., but you are different. You’re at a different stage of life. You’re farther along in the process of life.

And that goes for everyone around you as well. People you love change and grow. Circumstances may force togetherness or distance, jobs come and jobs go. It’s all a process, this being an adult.

And the paradox is, that deep within, you are the same. The values and strengths that brought you to adulthood remain braided in your brainstem. The things that created joy as a child can still lighten your heart. Just as your baby picture still looks like you, your soul still looks like you.

It’s as though simultaneously, you are the river and a drop of water within it.

It’s a paradox.

We are here and it is now. Further than that all human knowledge

is moonshine
~ H. L. Mencken

As we grow through this life of ours, we sometimes forget those values and strengths. We’re encouraged, or directed, by others to become what they need. To fit into a mold that conforms to someone else. To meet other’s needs before your own. We forget about the things that delighted us.

And of course, the voice in your head reminds you to stay in the life you’ve created. Every time you come up with a creative way to express yourself, or a new idea to try, the voice in your head gives you its favorite phrase to stop you. “You’ll never be any good at that.” “You have responsibilities!” “What will they think?” “But what about …..? (fill in your personal favorite excuse)

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist

once he grows up.
~ Pablo Picasso

A Life Coach helps you remember. Remember who you are inside, not who you’ve become. We look at your values. We look at things that make you smile. We remember how to dance and play and sing. And you decide what belongs in your life. We don’t spend time trying to figure out your past, or processing through emotions – that’s for a therapist. A Life Coach facilitates your process of designing and living your life in a way that reflects who you truly are.

The beginning is always today
